The Toronto Jets grew out of the Greater Toronto House League and was formed for those wishing to play more competitive football. The Jets were played its first spring and fall seasons in 2013 and 2018 marks the team's 6th year.
In the spring, the Jets play in the Ontario Provincial Football League (OPFL). This is the league's 2nd season and at this time, the Jets play in the "Regional Rep" or AA division. Teams play 8 games, plus playoff game(s) if the team qualifies. Games begin on the Victoria weekend with the championship played on the first weekend of August. Away games are scheduled to minimize travel.
In the spring and fall, the Jets play in the Ontario Football League (OFL). This is a tiered league focusing on developmental football at the Atom, Peewee and Bantam divisions.
The spring season is made up of 6 games plus at least one playoff game. The schedule of the fall season is currently under review. The schedule takes into consideration travel time/distance and age of players. Generally, away games are played within 45 to 90 minutes away.
The ages divisions are as follows:
Atom: Under 10 years of age at year’s end.
Peewee: Under 12 years of age at year’s end.
Bantam: Under 15 years of age at year's end.
Junior Varsity: Under 17 years of age at year's end.
Senior Varsity: 19 years of age and under at year's end.
Everyone that registers makes the team. That being said, the team is a rep team and playing time is not guaranteed. If the coaches feel that your child is not ready, they will discuss the options with you.
The Jets begin practicing outdoors in April (weather permitting). The OPFL anticipates the first games to be scheduled on the Victoria weekend with the championship games played the first weekend in August. The final schedule will be posted as soon as it is confirmed by the league.
The fall season schedule is TBA.
All teams practice twice a week (weather permitting) from 6:30 - 8:30 PM.
The Jets' practice field is located at the Toronto Azzurri Sports Village (Keele Reservior) located at 4995 Keele Street.
Registration is now open for spring football 2018.
The registration fee for the 2018 season for is $600.
- 2 practices and 1 game per week (as per schedule)
- 4 home & 4 away games, plus playoffs if team qualifies
- busses to away game
- use of all football equipment, except cleats
- athletic trainer at all games
- team & individual picture
- banquet (following the fall season)
- game jersey to keep
